Event Date: Monday, January 30, 2006
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Magno Screening, 729 Seventh Avenue (bet. 48th & 49th Streets), 2nd Floor

MIT alum Dr. Andrew Silver, a producer/director with long experience in both feature and documentary films, will show excerpts from his latest work, an award-winning documentary titled "Profiles in Aspiration". Featuring profiles of world-class female athletes from a number of sports (e.g.rowing, running, swimming, judo, pole vaulting, handball, ultimate frisbee, gymwheel, mountain climbing, etc.), the movie provides key insights into the mental and emotional attributes common to successful individuals in any walk of life. The result of these finely-crafted vignettes is both lyrical and intense, and thoroughly captivating. Samples of the movie's chapters can be found at
Profiles in Aspiration.

In addition to discussing this specific movie from the producer's/director's point of view, Andrew will be glad to discuss any aspects of the filmmaking process and the film industry in which the audience is interested, including distribution, exhibition and the future in the Internet age.

If sufficient interest exists, Andrew has offered to continue discussions over a glass of wine at his Central Park West apartment after the viewing (for MITCNY members only).

Attendees of this MITCNY event will receive an invitation to the NYC premiere of "Radio Cape Cod" in November 2006. They will also receive a free DVD of "Return."

Dr. Silver is co-author of "A Film Director's Approach to Managing Creativity." His other film credits include the award-winning feature "Return", and various films made for PBS, European and Asian broadcast. He has produced and directed dramas adapted from stories by Ray Bradbury and Kurt Vonnegut. His next film, "A Touch of Love" features a trio of love stories set in England and Germany.
